Overview

When the Fall / Winter hockey season comes to an end, it’s time for Pee Wee players moving on to Bantam to get ready for checking. It’s also a good time for older players to practice their checking skills. Checking is truly a skill like any other, and must be learned & practiced properly. Checking without proper technique and skill can, and will, result in injuries.

Our Checking Clinics strive to give players the confidence and techniques need to succeed in today's game. We educate our students on the purpose of body contact, when and how to utilize it effectively, and the techniques involved in executing a proper and safe check. Students learn how to both give and receive a check and how to avoid potentially dangerous situations.

Our Puck and Board Battle Camp’s goal is to develop a player’s skill and hockey IQ through game situational battles. Every drill incorporates a skill, skating and game theory element while engaging in a game situational battle. At the Battle Camp players will go through a systematic approach of drills, demonstrations, and instruction that provide the skills necessary to win the battle. After the initial battle is won or lost, the players focus on release of contact, gap control, vision, and puck exit.

Using our camp’s battle drills as a key portion of practice will force players out of their comfort zone, reduce decision making time, and increase the speed of execution.
